Dear human being,
You were put on this earth for a reason. It was to evolve and grow and make the world a better place. So today as our hearts are heavy for the people in America affected by our own blind racism, rage and pain, let’s ask ourselves … are we doing our part?
If our family, community, environment, air, water, friends, local store, daily postman, neighborhood waitress ... if everything, and everyone we run into on a daily basis is not doing better after we left them... then we’re failing.
If we are not walking in self-love, humility, empathy and kindness - we are failing. We’re failing ourselves, our family and friends circle, our community, our state, our country, and our world.
And the solution is simpler then we might think. If you’re not sure where to start. Stop.
Chances are if we are not walking in kindness it’s because we are not walking in peace. Today I beg you, find your peace, wherever it is. Go outside, touch the grass, plant some flowers, hug a tree, literally. Take a bath, a nap,get some rest for a change. Pet a cat or dog, cuddle with a young child, do something that grounds you to your goddamn humanity.
And, if you need a faith or religion… Choose one that is kind. Or at least the kindest version of it that you can create.
The world can generate erosion, hate, jealousy, prejudice, misogyny, abuse, and all of the other horrific things we are dealing with ... on its own.
Your job is to do something else.
I want to cry for them, and I will, but it’s not enough. So today I am being extra quiet. I am spending time around tall trees. And yes, I am thinking thoughts and sending prayers and love BUT I’m going to do MORE than that.
I’m going to touch every human and plant and animal that I can with kindness and empathy this week and I hope that you will all do the same. It’s the only way to change our world. We must change OURSELVES.
As much as I think we need some legislation, it can’t change the root problem. Only you can do that.
Please. Connect to your humanity and then walk around being a human being. It is, in fact, our only real job.
